Photo: Watching chunks of ice break off the glacier
There's not much to do in El Calafate except visit the glacier, so today we returned to the Perito Moreno Glacier for some more glacier watching.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of only three Patagonian glaciers that isn't receding. The terminus of the Perito Moreno Glacier is 5 kilometres wide, with an average height of 74 m above the surface of the water of Argentino Lake. It has a total ice depth of 170 metres.
