Day 9: La Fouly to La Fouly!
Relaxing, eating and staring at the mountains.
Out of the tent at 5:45am as I was already awake and the sun was slowly starting to shine on the mountain tops. Gaby's cold was a little worse, so she carried on trying to sleep. We decided to spend another night at the same campsite to give her time to rest and recover, hopefully improving the chances of enjoying the best of the trail ahead.
After a late rise and breakfast, we spent the morning watching the mountains. At one point I asked Gaby if there was any washing-up liquid by the sinks. She replied that if I had done any of the washing up, I would already know. Needless to say, I was on washing-up duty for the rest of the day.
We then headed to the supermarket for lunch: freshly baked bread, cheese and salami, eaten on the conveniently placed benches outside. We skipped dessert as a small pot of local ice cream was €15, which seemed a little ambitious. We were, however, tempted by a white chocolate Toblerone. When in Rome, or at least Switzerland.
After an afternoon siesta, the heavens opened and a thunderstorm ensued, common in the Alps at this time of year. Once it had passed, we ate some more, then had dinner before an early night, ready for a relaxed day tomorrow, the plan is a short walk through Swiss villages and pastures to Champex Lac.
