After a pleasant flight and only a few hours of sleep we touched down in Dubai at 7am.
We passed through customs quickly and decided to take the slower metro over the more expensive taxi option to get to the center. Our metro carriage was almost empty as we boarded but two stops later it filled with commuter on their way to the daily grind. We alighted at the Dubai Mall where we validated our hop on hop off bus tour tickets we had purchased online the week before.
It was a warm 28 degree C as we walked the 1km from the Mall to our hotel where we were lucky to be able to check in and access our room immediately.
After freshening up we caught the free hotel shuttle back to the Dubai Mall at 10:45 am where we boarded the Old City Red Route City Sightseeing bus tour.
Most of the afternoon was spent enjoying the warm breeze from the open top bus and we only alighted to see The Frame. It's one of the countries newest cultural attractions splitting the city views between the ancient and modern; offering a glass floor experience that towers 150m above the sounding streets.
Hopping back on the bus we returned to the Mall for a bite to eat, marvelled at the huge aquarium in the shopping centre before the walk back to our hotel to relax and freshen up. We heading back out again in the evening for a city lights tour....
I fell asleep for the first part of the lights tour despite the hard uncomfortable seats. I didn't miss much. We were glad we did the tour but it wasn't that enthralling.
We visited the Mall waterfalls and fountains then caught the free shuttle bus back to our hotel.
