A 30 minute taxi ride to the port; 90 minutes on a ferry and we arrive in Ko Lipe, Thailand.
We we were transferred from our ferry to the golden sandy beach by smaller boats, then had to wait in the heat to be processed by immigrations. Once formalities were complete and we had paid our BHT 200 (£5) park entrance fee, it was a short walk along the beach to the 'walking street' - a narrow pedestrian street (except for the odd motorbike or mototaxi) to our hotel.
We were too early to check-in, so we slipped into flip flops and headed to the beach. As we approached it was a picture postcard view with crystal clear water and golden sands.
The afternoon was spent swimming in the warm waters and the evening buying snorkeling gear for the coming weeks of beach life.
