We woke to a frozen tent and it took a while for the sun to rise before it started to thaw. Having packed up our camp we left Malalcahuello mid morning, heading east, back to Argentina. After the four and a half km drive through the Las RaĆces tunnel (Latin Americas third longest) we stopped for fuel and supplies in the village or Lonquimay then the short drive across the border back to Argentina...

A cloudy start and a relaxing morning. As lunchtime loomed we were getting hungry, so headed down to the village centre to fill out stomachs. From here we headed into the Reserva Nacional Malalcahuello to see the Crater Navidad (Christmas Crater) so named because it erupted on Christmas day 1988....

With the sun shining we headed north from Pucon towards the small town of Melipeuco from where we were heading to the Sollipulli volcano...
