Day 52 - Pangkor Island

Day 52 - Pangkor Island

Photo: Coral Beach, Pangkor Island

We rushed to check-out of the hotel and booked a taxi online for the 5 km trip to the bus terminal, this would be the third bus terminal we have visited in Kuala Lumpur.

The bus pulled in on time at platform one, right destination but it wasn't our bus, the next bus wasn't ours either. Third time luncky and just one hour late, we were on our way.

We were heading to the island of Pangkor to spend Christmas. The bus was half full and we assumed everyone else was headed to the island as well, but by the time we reached our destination there were just three of us left on the bus.

Finding the port was easy as we could see he sea from the bus terminal. Finding the ticket office was a little more difficult but after purchasing out tickets we joined the queue of mostly locals and were soon on our way to the island.

As we disembarked the boat we were greeted by lots of pink taxi vans waiting to take people to their final destination. It was the only form of public transport as here are no buses on the island.
We found driver and were driven the 8kms to our hotel the Pangkor Waterfall Beach Resort. We were about 200m from the beach, no waterfall in sight and it certainlly wasn't a resort, at least not what we would call one. It was was exactly as we expected from the photo, clean and basic. We had booked for 3 nights but immediately booked for a further 2 as we decided it was such a relaxing place.

We headed down to the beach and ended up having dinner on Coral beach at sunset. A great way to spend Christmas Eve.
