Day 4: Auritz/Burguete to Ochagavía / Otsagabia
A late start today so I could be at the pharmacy when it opened at 9am, only to discover it had actually opened at 8am.
Head down, I concentrated on my feet and followed the doctor's orders, stopping every few hours to let them out of their increasingly fragrant shoes. I reached my first objective at 1.30pm, took my shoes off and prepared a salami sandwich. I probably should have done it the other way round, but the salami had now spent 48 hours without refrigeration, so it was probably about as fresh as my shoes.
My feet seemed to be holding up well. There was nowhere suitable to camp, so I pushed on to the commercial campsite in Ochagavía. It was another 21km with plenty of ascent and descent, and I didn't arrive until 7.15pm.
The usual routine followed: tent up, shower, wash clothes and eat. Over dinner I chatted with a German girl, the only other trekker staying at the campsite.
Before bed I rubbed in the oil the doctor had prescribed, then spent the rest of the evening sitting with my feet sticking out of the tent while I waited for it to soak in.
