Woken up at 6:30 am local time as we descended into Bangkok. An uneventful landing followed by a long walk through the terminal building. We queued for immigration only for Gaby to be sent for a 'Health Check' having been in South America recently. After filing out a form and showing her Yellow fever certificate we successfully made it through customs on the second attempt.
We exited the terminal building in the direction of the buses to central Bangkok and quickly found an 'Express' bus heading for Khoa San road where we were going to meet our friends Claire & Luna. On meeting up, we found a hotel with a pool a short distance away for about £20 a night. We booked for three nights.
After a short stroll to get to know the local area and sample some of the street food, we spent the rest of the afternoon in and around the pool.
In the evening we headed to the Golden Mount Temple Festival for some more local cuisine and culture.
The longest running temple fair in Bangkok takes place at the Golden Mount at Wat Saket. The opening ceremony will take place one week before the full moon in November when a red cloth will be paraded along the streets near the temple and then taken to the top of the hill where it will be wrapped around the chedi
